Road
Coimbatore has well developed road infrastructure, though there has been some issues like congestion and maintenance problem which are being sorted out.

Apart from the national highways, Coimbatore has 635.32 kilometers long road network. Railways
Coimbatore has four important railway stations- Coimbatore junction or Kovai junction, Podanur junction, Coimbatore north junction and Irugur, of these the Coimbatore junction is the largest and the most important. Coimbatore junction has six platforms and is the second most busiest and revenue yielding station in the southern railway zone. It contributes almost 45% of the total income in southern railway zone.

Currently gauge conversion work is going on between Pollachi and Pallakad line, 58 km of stretch has been planned to convert to broad gauge. Till now 30 km has been completed. Monorail has also been proposed which will connect different parts of Coimbatore; it is the same as the metro rail in Delhi.

Water management Infrastructure in Coimbatore

It includes Drinking water supply, dams, irrigation facilities, drainage systems etc. There are two major sources of supply of drinking water to Coimbatore City: Siruvani and Pillur Schemes. Coimbatore gets daily 87 MLD of water (Million litres per day) from Siruvani and 66 MLD of water from Pillur. Coimbatore Corporation maintains the distribution of water supply.

Drainage systems in Coimbatore are looked after by the Tamilnadu Water supply and Drainage Board. Several reservoirs as been constructed in Coimbatore to store water such as Sholaiyar Dam, Kadamparai Dam, Nirayar Dam, Aliyar Dam, etc . Pykara and Kundah are two hydro projects in this region that generate 833 MW jointly.
