Museums in Coimbatore

Gass Forest Museum in Coimbatore was established in 1902 by Horace Arichibald Gass, a conservator of forests. Varied species of plants and animals can be seen in this museum. Other museums in Coimbatore include G.D. Naidu museum (collection of scientific devices and gadgets), Government museum (varied artifacts displayed here) and Ancient Industrial Artifacts Museum (antiques, stone tools, rare coins, jewellery displayed here). For the sports lovers, Kari Motor Speedway is a race track (3.2 kms. long) in Orratukuppai, Chettipalayam. 18 hole Coimbatore Golf Club in Chettipalayam is a venue for golf tournaments. Kovai Hills Golf Academy (KHGA) is the first Golf Academy in India with a 9 hole par 3 golf course.

Black Thunder (water theme park) is located in Mettupalayam, 40 kms. from Coimbatore city. It is surrounded by the scenic Nilgiri hills. Other amusement parks are Kovai Kondattam at Siruvani main road, Kalampalyam and Maharaja Theme Park in Avinashi road on NH-47.
