Beaches in Coimbatore
Marina Beach
Marina beach is approximately 503 km from Coimbatore, this takes around 7 hours to travel by road depending upon traffic. Marina beach is the longest urban beach in the country (13km) and the second longest in the world. Bathing and swimming are prohibited here due to the strong undercurrent which can drown people. Many events such as Republic Day, Independence Day, flag hoisting is performed here.

How to reach Marina Beach
By Air: Nearest airport is Chennai International Airport which is about 16 km from the beach. Cab/taxi from airport.
By Road: You can take a direct bus from Coimbatore to Chennai, and from Chennai you can catch a bus to “Anna Square”. Alternatively you can book a direct cab by calling on 30003000 or 6666 6666.
By Train: Take a direct train from Podanur Junction, Coimbatore to Chennai Central station that takes around 8 hours. From Chennai central, you can take a bus or auto which would take 10-15 min.
Elliot Beach
Elliot beach is located about 500 km from Coimbatore. It is one of cleanest beaches in Chennai, though water sports are not allowed here but the place has calm and serenity of its own. There are temples, churches and monuments near the beach. At the southern end of the beach, is the famous Velankanni Church built in the honour of the Lady of Health.
By Air: Nearest airport is Chennai International Airport which is 14 km from the beach.
By Train: Take a direct train from Podanur Junction, Coimbatore Egmore railway station and from there, you can take a bus or auto which would take 15 min.
By Road: From Coimbatore, direct buses are available to Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus, from there buses are available to many destinations.
Breezy Beach
Breezy beach is located about 509 km from Coimbatore. It is a less popular beach among all and hence is much secluded and much less polluted. It has not been commercialized yet so you would not find much restaurants and stalls, however the advantage of this is if one wants to enjoy the calm, privacy and the pure touch of nature, this place is a must visit.
By Air: One can reach Chennai International Airport and from there, the beach is approximately 12 km.from the airport
By Road: Buses are available till Thiruvanmayur, and from there the Beach is about 1 km.
By Train: The nearest railway station is Thiruvanmayur railway station, and from there the beach is aprox 1 km.
Mahabalipuram
Mahabalipuram also known as Mamallapuram is located about 530 km from Coimbatore. The white sandy beach with its calm climate and less of hustle-bustle is a good choice among India’s east coach beaches. Advantage of this place is that you also got to visit the famous Mahabali temple and temples from the era of Mahabharata which are very close to the beach.
How to reach Mahabalipuram
By Air: The beach is approximately 60 km from Chennai International Airport. Hire auto or pre-paid taxi to reach the beach.
By Road: Buses ply regularly from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus
By Train: The nearest railway station is Chengalpattu which is around 29 km from the beach.
